I am recruiting new lab members! See below for details.

Graduate students
I am actively recruiting PhD students to start in Fall 2027! I am looking for students interested in community ecology to study resource-consumer interactions between seed-producing trees (such as pines and oaks) and seed-consuming vertebrates (mainly mice). Potential research topics include temporal resource dynamics, diet analysis, vertebrate population dynamics, interactions among multiple trophic levels, and/or fire ecology. Students will have the opportunity to conduct fieldwork in the longleaf pine savannas of northern Florida and/or southern Georgia.
If you are interested or have questions, please reach out to pwilliams15 [at] fsu [dot] edu with the subject line “Prospective PhD Student”. Include a CV and a brief description of your research interests. I will schedule Zoom interviews with the most competitive applicants.
Please note that FSU biology graduate applications are due December 1st, but please contact me well before then and as soon as possible, as this can be a long process.

Postdoctoral researchers
I am actively recruiting postdocs to start as early as January 2027! I am looking for postdocs interested in macroecology and the analysis of large-scale biodiversity datasets, including functional trait data. One potential avenue of research is to develop analytical tools for interpreting functional diversity, and so candidates with experience developing R packages are especially encouraged to apply.
I am also interested in working with prospective postdocs to develop proposals to apply for external funding, in which case there would be greater flexibility in the areas of research that could be pursued.
Candidates must hold a PhD in ecology, statistics, or a related field by the start of the position. Candidates are expected to have a strong work ethic, excellent communication and time management skills, and demonstrated experience publishing scientific research. Proficiency with program R is required. Candidates must be able to work in person at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
To apply, please reach out to pwilliams15 [at] fsu [dot] edu with the subject line “Prospective Postdoc”. Include a CV and cover letter that describes previous experience, research interests, and motivation for applying. The preferred start date is between January and September 2027.
Undergraduate researchers
Undergraduate research opportunities will become available in Fall 2027, particularly for assisting with local fieldwork. Please check back in early 2027 for more information.
